Can I ride Didi from PEK without a Chinese phone number?

I land at Beijing Capital around 23:30 and only have roaming on my US number. I can receive app push notifications, but SMS is unreliable.

Can Didi work with a foreign number and Alipay mini app, or should I plan for the official taxi queue? I am staying near Dongzhimen and would rather avoid negotiating after a long flight.

Didi inside Alipay worked with my UK number, but driver calls are the weak point. Use the canned chat messages and choose a pickup spot with staff nearby.

At that hour I would take the official taxi queue for the first ride. Save Didi for daytime once your payment and map setup are proven.
